Virginia Lawrence

Virginia M. Lawrence, age 100, of Oldtown Valley, passed away Saturday evening, December 20, 2025 in Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Born in Roswell on January 2, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Espenschied) Korns.

Virginia married her lifelong companion and friend, Russell Lawrence in Cambridge, Ohio on June 5, 1944. Together they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before his passing in September of 2011.

Virginia was a proud homemaker. She loved to sew and knit. As Russell worked in the garden she canned the vegetables for the family. She also became an avid bird watcher, which continued until her passing. In her free-time she was a member of the Tuscarawas County Historical Society. Her joy was spending time with family and friends whether at home or while exploring the shops and restaurants of Berlin, Ohio. A “grandma” to everyone, Virginia’s generous nature, sweet sense of humor, and bubbly laugh will be remembered always.

Virginia will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sara (Robert) Kron of Conesville, Kathy (Scott) Devol of Canton, and Cindy (Martin) Hoenes of North Canton; grandchildren, Todd and Christopher Kron, Ginger (Thomas) Wahjudi, Steve (Evie) Albright, Debbie (Dana) Potter, Megan (Craig) Shaver, Cory (Candy) Devol and Madison (Ryan) Few; great-grandchildren, Rya and Eric Kron, Quinn Wahjudi, Nicholas and Jacob Albright, Beckett, Owen and Ethan Devol, and Camren and Brooklyn Shaver; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Gay Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge the kindness of Virginia’s dear neighbors, John and Darla Graham, Nancy Charnock, and Dave Arnold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Diana Smith; sister, Katherine Murray; and brothers, Jack Korns, Raymond Korns, Glenn Korns, and Jerry Korns.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A service celebrating Virginia’s life will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
