Verna M. Coverdale, passed away peacefully in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at Canton on January 6, 2026 following a period of declining health. She has left a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.
Born in Uhrichsville on March 7, 1940, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness and devotion shaped generations.
Verna found joy in simple pleasures, especially working on plastic canvas projects and doing puzzles alongside her sisters—moments that reflected her patience, creativity, and love of togetherness. Above all, her great-grandchildren were the light of her life, bringing her endless happiness and pride.
She was a dedicated worker at Bates Metal Products in Port Washington, where she was employed prior to her retirement. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident both in her career and in her family life.
Verna is survived by her loving children, Dawn (Richard) Elliott, Loretta (Arley) Carter, Heather Coverdale, Faith Coverdale, and Clifford (Violet) Coverdale; and her sister, Flora Robinson.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love forward.
She was preceded in death by one beloved son, Gerald, and her grandson, Thomas Siglar; and her siblings, Virgil “Sonny” Beal, George Beal, Rachel Hankins, and Janis Bayliss.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m.
