Sue Carol Whitmer

Sue Carol Whitmer, 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away July 7, 2023, in her home where she was well cared for by her sons following a period of declining health.

Born in Canton on November 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Lenhart.

Sue graduated from Middlebranch High School where she participated as a cheerleader. She was then blessed with the birth of her two sons, Daniel and Mark Immel, both of New Philadelphia.

Her faith was nurtured at Broadway Global Methodist Church where she established many wonderful friendships and participated in a variety of groups. Sue also had a love for nature, enjoying God’s beauty in trees, flowers, humming birds and butterflies. Most importantly, Sue was a true friend to those she loved.

She will be forever cherished and loved by her family including sons, Daniel and Mark; her sisters-in-law, Wendy Lenhart and Eleanor Whitmer; and her extended family, Jim, Cheryl, and JT Rini.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in passing by her husband, Al Whitmer; her brother, Bill Lenhart; her sister, Mimi Heminger; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Immel.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Harley Wheeler will lead a service celebrating Sue’s life beginning at 11 a.m.  Inurnment will take place the following week in North Lawn Cemetery at Canton.
