Steven Knight

Steven Paul “Steve” Knight, 67, of Uhrichsville, a humble and kind man, passed away in Union Hospital at Dover on February 1, 2023.

Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on August 10, 1955, he was the son of the late William and Doris (Wince) Knight, Jr.

His education began at Garaway Schools and ultimately obtained his GED with Claymont. He has worked hard throughout his lifetime, providing for his family. Most recently, he was employed at the former Sugarcreek Window & Door as a painter.

He loved playing his guitar and singing and was a member of the former Silver Dollar band. He also had a soft place in his heart for his pets. His family and friends were of greatest importance to him, but he would also give the shirt off of his back for a stranger in need. Additionally, he was a man of God with a tremendously strong faith. His example of humility and kindness are character traits his family hopes to emulate.

“The girl next door”, Mickey L. Slocum, became his wife and they celebrated 49 years of loving marriage together. Together, they were blessed with the birth of their children, Amy (Michael) Sanders of Uhrichsville, Jason (Missy) Knight of Gnadenhutten, James (companion, Charlotte) Knight of Wainwright, and Jonathan (Elizabeth) Knight of Uhrichsville. He also adored his grandchildren, Anthony, Jordan, Skylar, Macenzie, Julia (companion, David), Garrin, Brandi, Kacie, Autumn, Joshua, Emily, Dylan, Nathan, Tyler, and Dessirree. His family is completed by his siblings, Gary (Suzan) Knight, Anita Goodwin, and several nieces and nephews. He also has seven great-grandchildren and is expecting two more later this year.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in passing by his grandson, Bret Knight; his sisters, Teresa Smith and Carla (Charles) Barger; and his brother-in-law, Enos Goodwin.

Services are private and cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
