Stephen "Joe" McCall

Stephen “Joe” A. McCall, age 75, of Newcomerstown, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Hennis Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Newcomerstown, on September 17, 1948, Joe was a son of the late Edward and Emma Lou Dansby McCall.

He attended Newcomerstown High School and was employed by the former Heller Tool later, Simons Industries where he worked for 32 years. 

In his free time, Joe enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, rooting for the Cleveland sports teams, and in his younger years coaching his son’s little league baseball teams.

He is survived by a son, Joe (Renee Maurer) McCall of Dover, and his grandchildren, Lamar Daniel McCall, Kamara McCall, Camden McCall, Kendra McCall, and Kyra McCall.


In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Casteel McCall; his son, Paul “Danny” McCall; and his sister, Selena McCall.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be led by Pastor Tommy Miller in the Victory Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 11 AM with the family greeting guests one hour prior to the service from 10 -11 AM. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Cemetery.
