Shirley J. (Burdette) Schupp, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, June 17, 2026 in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at Canton.

A daughter of the late Jessie Jeanette Burdette, Shirley was born on June 27, 1936 in Newport, Ohio.

On November 12, 1953, Shirley married the love of her life, Lloyd E. Schupp, and together they shared 52 blessed years of marriage before his passing on February 9, 2006. A faithful member of Sharon Moravian Church for more than 65 years, Shirley devoted herself to serving others through the Women’s Fellowship, card ministry, funeral meals, and visits to members in need. Shirley was raised by her grandparents after the passing of her mother at the age of two. As a teen, she developed a strong faith, compassionate heart and generous spirit that remained with her throughout her life.

Shirley loved gardening and was well known for canning, freezing, and juicing her harvest, especially her homemade applesauce and grape juice. She enjoyed music from an early age, playing electric guitar in a girls’ band and later waking her children on Sunday mornings with hymns played on the piano. She and Lloyd enjoyed traveling extensively during retirement, but her greatest joy was always her family. She loved hosting holiday gatherings, especially Easter, attending the events and activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and creating special memories, including a family trip to The Wilds. Shirley lived life fully to the very end, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, hospitality, and love.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Ralph) Buckley of Dublin, Ohio, and Mike (Sandy) Schupp and Todd (Jackie) Schupp, both of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Ray (Leslie) Gibbs, Chris (Heather) Gibbs, Lindsey (Craig) Rowley, Trent (Emily) Gibbs, Steve (Krisha) Schupp, Ashley (David) Wozniak, Shelby (Erick) Bonner, Bryer (Taylor) Schupp and Maddy (Jacob) Osswald; great-grandchildren, Parker, Destiny, Ariana, Gabe, Caylee, Bentley, Layla, Paxton, Paisley, Carrera, Avery, Bexley, Daisy, Aleah, Caine, Cooper, Sutton, Alice, Calloway, Willow, Bella and Stella; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, June 22 at 11 a.m. in Sharon Moravian Church with Rev. John Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Moravian Cemetery. Following the services, a memorial reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Sharon Moravian Church.
