Selva J. Gladstone, 87, of Dover and formerly of Uhrichsville, died Saturday, January 27, 2024 in Hennis Care Center in Dover, following a period of declining health.
Born June 29, 1936 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe K. and Ginerva H. (Linard) Gilmore and a graduate of the former Uhrichsville High School. Early in her adult life, Selva worked as a kiln operator for the former Scio Pottery in Scio and following the birth of her children, she decided to become a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She often enjoyed going on short excursions with her husband and family and loved watching birds and working in her flower garden. Selva was a member of the Tuscarawas Quilting Guild and a former member of the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene.
On August 23, 1970, Selva married Harold Gladstone and together shared over thirty-two years of marriage until his passing on April 18, 2003. Surviving is her son, Clarence H. (Ruthy) Gladstone of Uhrichsville; her daughter, Sandy S. Gladstone of Dover; two grandchildren, Lucas and Madison; two sisters, Lenora Thomas of Barnhill and Verna Laporte of Tippecanoe; a brother, Clyde Gilmore of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Josephine Meese and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Gilmore, Robert Gilmore and a sister, Wilma Fulton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 10 to 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
