Sam Hadley, Jr.

Sam Hadley, Jr., age 94, of Dover, died peacefully, Monday, March 25, 2024, while in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Born in his family home in Fairfield Township on August 27, 1929, Sam was a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Janie (Raper) Hadley.

He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and then began a career with Greer Steel.

After retirement, Sam enjoyed working at his house.  He was also a gifted mechanic.

Sam is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Whitaker whom he married on December 30, 1949; his extended family, Chris (Patty) Born, Norman (Beverly) Born, Elizabeth Hadley, Tim Hadley, Steve McDaniel, Susan McDaniel Morris, Pam (Tom) Harmon, Jack (Gennie) McDaniel; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Sam was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Hadley; sister, Irene Hadley Born; brother, Alan “Bud” Hadley; and sister-in-law, Ruth McDaniel.

 The family welcomes friends to attend the graveside service on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
