Ryan Cookson

Ryan Michael Cookson, age 40, of New Philadelphia, went home to heaven on November 21, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with severe ulcerative colitis. Born on April 20, 1985, in Dover. He was the beloved son of Mike and Jennifer (Benton) Cookson.

On October 5, 2013 he married Kayce McCoy, his best friend and soulmate. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to their sons, James and Daniel, whom Ryan adored with all his heart.

Ryan enjoyed fishing, hiking, golf, music, and had a lifelong passion for drawing and expressing himself through art. He worked with pride in his family’s business John W. Cookson Company, as a dedicated drive train specialist.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Kayce; sons, James, and Daniel Cookson; parents, Mike and Jennifer; siblings, Ashley (Randy) Zeigler and Matthew Cookson; nieces and nephews, Max, Lily, Nathan, and Avery; in-laws, Rick, and Deb McCoy; and many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Ryan’s gentle spirit, creativity, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
