Roy A. Schilling

Roy A. Schilling, 74, of Dover and formerly of Ragersville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover, following a period of declining health.

Born at Dover, Roy was the son of the late Curtis J. and Dorothy D. (Graef) Schilling and was a 1967 graduate of Fairless High School. Roy was an honorably discharged veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Following the service to his country, Roy became an Electrical Contractor, owning and operating Schilling Electric for over 35 years.

Roy was loved by everyone that he came in contact with.  He was especially loved by all his nieces and nephews, affectionately called "Uncle Roy" or just "Unc." It was well known that if you needed a job, you could come to Uncle Roy and he would employ you in some way to make sure you stayed on your feet.  He loved nothing more than visiting with friends and family.  Roy was a wine maker for the better part of 20 years. If you were at his house, you were family, and he'd share a bottle with you. He was a treasure that will be missed.

On October 27, 1973, Roy married his wife, Barbara E. (McCahill) Schilling and together they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past October. In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his daughter, Kendra S. Schilling of New Philadelphia; his son, Brian A. Schilling of Tuscarawas and two sisters, Elaine A. Shelt of Strasburg and Rita M. Haney of Uhrichsville.

In addition to his parents, three brothers, Theodore Schilling, Norman Schilling and Bruce Schilling also preceded Roy in death.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care will be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a private burial will take place in Dover Burial Park at Dover.
