Rosalind J Shelley

Rosalind Jane Shelley, age 100, of Dover, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Born in El Dorado, Kansas, on March 2, 1925, Rosalind was a daughter of the late Victor E. and Mildred M. Mitchell Smith.

After graduating from Kosciusko, High School in Mississippi, where she was a member of the marching band and flag corps, Rosalind moved with her mother to California and met her future husband. The couple married in Ohio and ultimately had six children.

Rosalind supported her family in any way possible, working as a waitress, a shipping clerk, and then finding a career as a Civil Servant with the United States Airforce Reserves, where she was tasked with testing and promotions for rank. Through her 20-plus years of service, Rosalind had been assigned to various bases throughout the Eastern United States, with her last appointment being in the Macon, Georgia area, prior to her retirement. Following her time in Georgia, she relocated to the Tuscarawas Valley to be near family. She continued to work for another 30 years in various capacities for her family’s business, BRIKO Property Management.

Rosalind attributed her long life to her strong relationship with the Lord. She enjoyed studying God’s word in the Bible and never shied away from sharing her faith with others. She was also a thrill seeker. Whether it be riding the Top Thrill Dragster at age 94, ziplining at church camp, or hiking the Appalachian Trail in her 70s, Rosalind loved experiencing life and new adventures.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Shepherd of Dover, Preston Shelley, Paul Shelley both of Columbus, and Palmer (Mary Beth O’Neil) Shelley of Marion, Iowa; her grandchildren, Brian (Jenna) Klopfer, Billy (Kim) Klopfer, Jared Shepherd, Brian Shelley, and Doug (Lydia) Hawk; and her great-grandchildren, Bexleigh, Carter, Will, and Sammy.

In addition to her parents, Rosalind was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Klopfer and Penelope Hawk; two brothers, Leslie Mitchell-Smith and Roy Lester Smith; and a nephew, Scott Smith.

A private graveside service will be held in the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery in Milledgeville, Ohio. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling arrangements.
