Ronald Ray Kimble, age 82, of Dover, died peacefully, early Thursday, September 21, 2023, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.
Born August 9, 1941, at Dover, Ron was a son of the late Edward Ray and Nellie Mae (Barcus) Kimble. Ron spent 39 years employed with the former Joy Manufacturing Company of New Philadelphia, having started there in 1966.
On April 2, 1961, Ron wed his best friend, confidant, and the love of his life, the former Phyllis “Jean” Mercer, at Bridgeport, Ohio. The two shared 53 happy years of marriage, during which they often spent time square dancing. For many years the couple enjoyed dancing at Nu-Hall and also danced with the Star Prominaders, Red Lantern Flames, and Shirts and Skirts square dance clubs.
Ron was also a member of the Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table and the Custer Memorial Association of New Rumley. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, making replica cannons, and woodworking. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his children, Savannah Kimble of New Philadelphia and Troy Kimble of Bolivar, and Tana (Jeff) McClenaghan of Dover; seven grandchildren, Corey R. Kimble, Jessica L. Thompson, Brandon Kimble, Trenton Kimble, Kayla McClenaghan, Jennifer McClenaghan, and Christopher McClenaghan, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Sara Chadwell of Follansbee, West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Kimble; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Chadwell.
The family will greet guests, Monday, September 25, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Ron’s life on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park.
Ron believed in the mission of hospice care and the compassion they provided, the family would like to encourage memorial contributions in his memory be directed to a hospice charity of the donor’s choice.
