Ronald L. Hanes

Ronald Lee Hanes, 76, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2026.

Ron was born on July 16, 1950, in Marion, Ohio, to Herbert Cecil Hanes and Vivian (Schrock) Hanes. He graduated from River Valley High School in Marion in 1968. On November 16, 1973, he married the love of his life, Terri (Campbell) Hanes, who survives him.

Ron proudly served in the National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1974. He later enjoyed a long career with General Telephone Company (Verizon).

In retirement, Ron enjoyed golfing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He especially cherished attending his granddaughters' sporting events and school activities and was always proud to cheer them on. A devoted Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Ron rarely missed an opportunity to follow his favorite teams. He was also lovingly devoted to his canine companions, Chloe and Winnie.

In addition to his wife, Terri, Ron is survived by his son, Jason (Jennifer) Hanes of New Philadelphia; granddaughters, Jillian and Josie; daughter, Stacey (Marc) Piccirillo of Tampa, Florida; brother, Larry (Becky) Hanes of Caledonia, Ohio; and his beloved dogs, Chloe and Winnie.

In keeping with Ron's wishes, there will be no public services. Private burial will take place at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia at a later date.

Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal brother, and faithful friend whose greatest joy was his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
