Lloyd Ronald “Ron” Kohl, 92, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, in the loving care of Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Born on October 25, 1933, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, Ron was the youngest child of Benjamin and Ora (Edwards) Kohl. His parents instilled in him the values of hard work, humility, kindness, and the importance of faith and family values that guided him throughout his life. Ron was also well known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Ron graduated from Gnadenhutten High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from Joy Manufacturing in 1996 after many years of dedicated work. Above all, Ron cherished spending time with his beloved wife of 69 years, Bette (Dummermuth) Kohl, along with their daughter Kimberly and her family.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Bette; daughter Kimberly (Kohl) Roper and son-in-law Jim Roper of Worthington, Ohio; grandsons, Drew (Catherine) Roper of Houston, Texas and Matt (Andrea) Roper of Columbus; and great-grandchildren Ellie, Theo, and Bea Roper.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold (Evy) Kohl, Kenneth (Betty Lou) Kohl, and Edward (Clara Jane) Kohl; his sister, Erma (Ira) Struchen; nieces, Joan Roth and Bonnie Gribble; and nephew, Dave Struchen.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Dover First Moravian Church, 319 N. Walnut St., Dover, Ohio 44622, followed by a fellowship luncheon. A private burial will be held at a later time in Dover Burial Park.
