Romaine Coniglio, age 91, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, in her sleep, in her residence, Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
One of three daughters born to the late Forest Steinbaugh and Eva Steinbaugh-Strawn, Romaine was born in the family home at New Philadelphia on October 8, 1934.
She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on June 4, 1953, in Liberty, Indiana, married Vincent Coniglio, Jr. Together, the couple raised two sons and shared in 56 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 15, 2010.
Romaine was employed for nearly three decades as a Workshop Assistant with Starlight Enterprises. She was a member of Christ Community Church at New Philadelphia and loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters, Kay and Karen. Romaine enjoyed keeping a busy schedule by serving for many years as an Usher at the Kent State Performing Arts Center, The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a trip to Miller’s Creamery.
Surviving are her sons, Vincent M. Coniglio, III, and James Coniglio; her beloved granddaughter, Jennifer DeBois; great-grandchildren, Blake Lanzer, Jayli Lanzer, Gage DeBois, and Luke DeBois; her sisters, Kay Rees and Karen Cook as well as her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Romaine was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Ray Rees and Kenneth Cook.
In keeping with Romaine’s wishes, there will be no public services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
