Robert (Bob) Hungerford was born October 20, 1937 in Canton, OH to Bernice (Terry) and William Russell Hungerford. He resided in New Philadelphia, OH and loved the local community. Robert is proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and John. He is survived by his son, David (Allison) Hungerford of Paso Robles, CA, 3 grandsons (Andrew, Finley, and Bailey), and 2 great grandsons (August Stewart, Brooks Patrick). He is also survived by his significant other of over 30 years, Antonia (Toni) Conn of New Philadelphia and two stepsons that he helped raise, Evan (Heather) Aubihl, and Wes (Laura) Aubihl, also of New Phila.
Bob graduated from Middlebranch High School (Plain Township, Stark County) in 1955 and attended the University of Michigan, where he became a proud member of the Wolverines football team. Bob started his career in local Ford dealerships (including Harry Humphries), where he gained a lot of valuable experience and worked his way into management. Bob (Honda Bob) then moved into the motorcycle business and opened his own shop, Boulevard Cycle, in New Philadelphia, which he successfully owned and operated for over 30 years. Bob (Bobbo) truly enjoyed his life’s work and placed high importance on the many strong bonds and lifetime relationships that were created throughout. One such example is of time well spent with his team, friends, and family after hours in the back of the shop, which became known as ‘Bobbo’s Disco & Lounge’.
Aside from his love of riding motorcycles and being a car enthusiast (including attending many car & bike shows), Bob also loved spending his time rooting for Michigan (and sometimes Cleveland Browns) football, avidly reading, and being with family and friends. Bob spent many years growing and creating a special bond with Antonia (Toni) Conn, whom he loved very much. They grew their relationship and created many memories, whether it was through spending simple moments, such as enjoying a restaurant together, or travelling the country and abroad. He was passionate about travelling and took trips with Toni and a great group of friends to places like California, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Norway, The Alps, and New Zealand, among others.
Bob showed his compassion and care for all, as there are many examples of how he helped friends and acquaintances behind the scenes during times of need. He also enjoyed cooking at chicken BBQs that his longtime friend (Glenn Mears) hosted for various charities.
