Robert Ferrell

Robert “Bob” Edward Ferrell, age 81, of Beach City, died early Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Alfred B. and Beulah J. Decker Ferrell, Bob was born on September 23, 1942 at Massillon, Ohio.

A lifelong Beach City resident, Bob was known unofficially as “The Mayor” of his little community where he had a deep appreciation and love for his neighbors and countless friends. Bob was also a lifelong member of the former Beach City United Methodist Church.

He was a 68-year member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 18 and spent 40 years of his career as an employee of Heckett Engineering, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Republic Steel Plant in Canton prior to his retirement in 2006.

On October 28, 1961, Bob married the former Donna Jean McPherson and as a couple have shared in 62 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Bob) Davies of Strasburg and Jodi Ferrell of Beach City; a sister, Virginia Irene Shonk of Bolivar; and a brother, Ernest (JoAnn) Ferrell of Dennison as well as his nieces and nephews.

A graveside service celebrating Bob’s life will be held in the Dover Burial Park on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
