RICHARD A. “Baldy” JACKSON, 69, of New Philadelphia, died in his home early Thursday morning, August 22, 2002. He was born May 9, 1933 in Tuscarawas county to the late Grant Jackson and Virginia Gano Price. During high school, he played football as the center linebacker with the 1950 championship-winning New Philadelphia Quakers. Following high school graduation in 1950, he joined up with the U. S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Mr. Jackson worked for the Warner-Swasey Co. and retired from the Gradall Co. as a cutter. Among his numerous memberships, he belonged to the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445, Loyal Order of Moose and the AmVets. Mr. Jackson was an avid bowler and golfer. Survivors include his daughter, Judi (Curt) Parker of New Philadelphia and his grandchildren, Nikki Lynn Wright (Dale) Greiner and Robert Allen Wright, II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Best. No calling hours or service will be held. Cremation is through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
