Rheba Rainsberger

Rheba J. Rainsberger, 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House on June 7, 2025 following a period of declining health. Known for her deep devotion to helping others, Rheba touched many lives with her generosity and service.

Born on April 24, 1938, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Dwight E. and Margaret L. (Golder) Rainsberger. A 1956 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Rheba went on to study at Kent State University and earned a secretarial degree from the former Canton Actual Business College.

She dedicated many years of her professional life to the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, retiring in 1992.

Rheba was a lifelong woman of faith. A member of the First United Methodist Church, she more recently attended Broadway Global Methodist Church. Her commitment to her community was evident in her extensive volunteer work. She was actively involved with numerous organizations, including the United Methodist Women, the Altar Guild, the Tuscarawas County Historical Society, the Dover Historical Society, and the American Cancer Society. She also gave her time and talents to the Salvation Army, the former Dover-New Philadelphia Business and Professional Women, Holmes County Christian Women, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, and the State of Ohio Alpha Iota Sorority—holding leadership roles such as board member and past president in many of these groups.

In retirement, Rheba enjoyed traveling and continued her active involvement in community and social causes.

She is survived by a large circle of close friends and many cousins who will miss her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication.

Rheba was reunited in heaven with her parents, and her late sister, Ellen Ann Rainsberger who passed away in 1975.

A public graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
