Raymond A. Arnold

RAYMOND A. ARNOLD, 91, formerly of Dover, died peacefully at Center Ridge Nursing Home in North Ridgeville early Thursday morning, August 15, 2002. For the past year and a half, Ray made his home with his son in daughter-in-law in Grafton. He was born in New Philadelphia on December 5, 1910 to Franklin L. and Beulah Diefenbacher Arnold. In September of 1930 he married Janet E. Minor. She preceded him in death in June of 1993. Along with his wife, Ray was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. He was instrumental in the construction of the church and was a member of the Seeker Sunday School class. Ray conducted bible studies in the Extended Care Unit at Union Hospital and at the New Dawn Health Care Center for fifteen years. He worked for forty-five years for the Empire Reeves Co. and retired in 1972 following an industrial accident. Ray was a charter member of Reeves Local No. 2737. Following retirement, Ray enjoyed bowling with the senior league at Kinser Lanes. But most of all, he liked to go fishing. Ray is survived by his son, Ray “Buddy” (Lori) Arnold of Grafton; grandchildren, Amy Rae Arnold and Matthew (Amber) John Arnold; great-grandchildren, Nathan Ray Arnold, Alexis Marie Arnold and Mariah Nicole Higley; and one sister, Virginia Stocker of Bolivar. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Stone, and four brothers, Maxwell, Franklin, James and Robert Arnold. Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 18, 2002 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, August 19, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Terry A. Kidd and Rev. Bill Waltz officiating. Burial, alongside his wife, will follow at East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal a meal will be shared in the church.
