Randall E. "Randy" Shook

Randall E. “Randy” Shook, 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

Born in Dover, he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Zelma L. (Blackwell) Shook and a 1970 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Randy will be remembered by many as the longtime Owner and Operator of Shook Auto at New Philadelphia for over 45 years. Randy was an avid supporter  of numerous community activities. These include the Tuscarawas County Fair, the Tuscarawas County 4-H and the New Philadelphia Quaker Club to name a few. He was a good-hearted man and generous with his giving. He was always willing to help anyone in need and  preferred to remain anonymous in his charity work. Randy loved his community and was proud to be a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County.

He enjoyed music and was a self-taught talented guitar player. He also enjoyed collecting all types of musical instruments and loved playing golf, going fishing and spending time at Atwood Lake.  Randy cherished his family and his favorite moments were spent with those he loved, especially his grandchildren.

On September 2, 1972, Randy married his wife, Diane E. (Steinebrey) Shook and together they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, Randy will be greatly missed by his son, Scott Shook of New Philadelphia and his daughter, Jackie (Richard) Harkey of Centreville, VA; five grandchildren, Kenedi Shook, Tori (Kyle) Lake, Maxwell Harkey, Miles Harkey and Taylor Harkey; two sisters, Pamela (Paul) Wallace of New Philadelphia, Jennie (Gill) Msangi of Canton and two brothers, Benjamin (Jody) Shook and Samuel (Jackie) Shook, III of New Philadelphia. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.

In keeping with Randy’s wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions, in Randy’s memory, be directed the National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org ; the Tuscarawas County 4-H Endowment Fund, 419 16th St SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663; or the Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society, 259 S.
