Patricia Ann (Sommer) Wysocki, 85, of Newark, Ohio and formerly of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2026 at Hearth Brook Assisted Living Facility in Newark.

A daughter of the late Edwin Dale and Marjorie Mae (Frieg) Sommer, Patricia was born July 2, 1941 at Canton, Ohio.

Patricia graduated from Washington High School in 1959 and from the Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 where she became a registered nurse.

She had a long work history as a registered staff nurse. She worked in hospitals located in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and at Massillon. In 1964 Patricia became a Flight Attendant for the Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri. She was able to travel the world and bring her parents to Europe and Asia in 1969 when she ended her career with TWA to return back home to Massillon where she became a Staff Nurse at the Massillon Community Hospital. She was also involved in teaching future Nurses and later became the Director of Nursing at the Tuscarawas County Home in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Following her retirement she relocated to Newark, Ohio with her late husband John Anthony Wysocki to be closer to family.

Patricia was a member of Neal Ave. Methodist Church in Newark, Ohio. She loved her faith in Jesus, reading, writing, playing cards, and coloring. Most of all, she enjoyed seeing her family and watching them grow over the years.

She is survived by a daughter, Jonna (Everett) Cavendish of Gahanna, Ohio; a son John (Carrie) Wysocki of Newark; five adult grandchildren, Danielle and Parker (Lauren) Cavendish; Natalie, Julia and Gabrielle Wysocki; two great grandchildren Iris and Holden Cavendish; two sisters Jeanne (Larry) Snyder and Linda Kettering and many extended family members.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and husband John Anthony Wysocki.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory, 116 Second Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. A funeral service celebrating Patricia’s life will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Drew Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
