Olive Yates

Olive Yates, age 96, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025.

Born in Massillon on February 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Peter Levi and Bessie V. (May) Hattery. She was one of 13 siblings.

She loved her birds and dogs, sewing, crocheting, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was especially fond of spending time with her family and friends who were amazed by her memory and ability to recall details and stories of her life.

She is survived by her children, Terry Stidd, Jean Moore, Rick (Connie) Stidd, Virginia Milburn (Richard) Clemens and Stanley Stidd; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Dale and Tom Hattery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Yates; her first husband and father of her children, Kenneth E. Stidd; and sons, Kenny and Charlie Stidd. She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several brothers and sisters.

In keeping with Olive’s wishes, no calling hours or services are planned. Burial will take place in Ridgecrest Memory Garden at Dover.
