Norma Jean Massarelli, 78, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, September 2, 2005 at Massillon Community Hospital in Massillon, Ohio following a brief illness.A daughter of the late William B. and Wilma E. Angel Phillips, she was born April 5, 1927 in New Philadelphia. On July 9, 1947 she married Carl S. Massarelli. She was employed by the Belmont stamping and Enameling Co. at New Phila, and then as a food service worker in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart School.A lover of things old and beautiful, Norma was a member of the Tuscarawas Antique Club, as well as a collector. She enjoyed playing rummy with her friends, as well as Bingo and bus trips.Norma is survived by one son, Thomas (Eileen) Massarelli of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law Becky Massarelli, of Massillon; one brother, Glenn Lirgg of Vero Beach Fl.; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband Carl S. Massarelli; a son, Garry L. Massarelli; one sister, Donna Metzger and one brother, William “Bill” Phillips.Visitation will be Tuesday September 6, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Services will be Wednesday Sept. 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Msgr. George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
