Nancy Blackson

Nancy L. (Everhart) Blackson, age 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at Walnut Hills Nursing facility, after a series of recent health issues.

Born in Canton OH, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Smith) Gordon of Dover and Wade V. Everhart of Massillon.

Nancy was full of life!  Everyone loved her vibrant personality and remembers her fondly for it. She was a woman of faith and enjoyed serving and helping others through volunteering.  

 She was a free spirit who loved dancing, fishing with her husband and the ocean/beach life.  She often cherished rooting for her grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dog Roxie.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Bob) Lorenz (Chaudrue) of New Philadelphia; sons, Tony (Theresa Kitzmiller) Chaudrue, Russ Swegheimer of Florida and Ohio, and Michael (Patty) Swegheimer of Canton.  She is also survived by her younger brother Wade Everhart of Massillon; and her half-sister Regina LaGlise.

Nancy was blessed to have 7 grandchildren; Michael Michel of Canton; Seth (Lexi) Swegheimer of Dover, Elizabeth “Libby” (Matti) Swegheimer, Parker Swegheimer, Marcie (Patrick) Arena of Washington, Jason (Lisa) Lorenz of New Philadelphia, and Lucas (Alli) Chaudrue.  She also had 9 great grandchildren:  Logan, Linden and Lilly Swegheimer, Avayah and Cade Lorenz, Kevin and Kenra Wright.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Herb Blackson of Dover; her sister Shirley Graef (Everhart) of New Philadelphia and her half-brother Richard Simmerman of Massillon.

Nancy was loved and will be dearly missed by all.   In keeping with Nancy’s cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory and no public services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society be made in her name.
