Monica C. Harding

November 25, 1944 — March 6, 2026

Dover

Monica C. Harding, age 81, of Dover, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, late Friday, March 6, 2026, while in the care of Crossroads Hospice at Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, following a period of declining health.

Born in Follansbee, West Virginia, on November 25, 1944, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Leona Brandt Cooper. After graduating from Follansbee High School in 1962, Monica went on to obtain a Nursing Degree from the Ohio Valley School of Nursing in 1965.

She soon relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to begin her nursing career at the Ohio State Medical Center and caught the eye of a young William “Bill” Harding, who happened to live in an apartment above her. A chance phone call to Monica became part of the couple’s love story. They married on May 19, 1973, and raised their two daughters in New Philadelphia.

Monica could often be found in the kitchen and was appreciated by her friends and family as one of the best cooks they knew. Through the years, she enjoyed volunteering at Union Hospital and playing tennis. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Together, she and Bill relished time with great friends in couples volleyball at the Y.M.C.A and playing bridge.

Her biggest passion in life, and center of her world, was her family. Through the years, she enjoyed countless card games, beach vacations, and going out to eat with her family at her side. She would do anything for those she loved.

Her faith was lived out in her service to her church community as a longtime, active member of the New Philadelphia First United Methodist Church. Monica helped to serve bereavement meals and work the Tuesday Supper Table, and volunteered at the Lighthouse Youth Center.

In addition to her devoted husband of 52 years, Monica is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Edward) Kiser of Fremont, Ohio, and Emily (Kyle) Gephart of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren, Will, Lily, and Tommy Kiser, and Grace and Annie Gephart.

In addition to her parents, Monica was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Cooper.

The family will greet guests on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A celebration of Monica’s life will be led by Deacon John Kelly on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 AM at the New Philadelphia First United Methodist Church. A meal and fellowship will follow in the church Life Center. Private burial will take place in the Dover Burial Park.

Memorial contributions in Monica’s name may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
