Molly Ann Bauer

October 13, 1964 — January 23, 2026

Dover

Molly Ann Bauer, age 61, of Dover, died peacefully early January 23, 2026, in her home, surrounded by her cherished family, following a courageous, hard-fought, eight-year battle with breast cancer. Molly lived valiantly until the end and made the best of every day despite how she may have felt during her illness.

Born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 13, 1964, she was a daughter of Ruthann (Peters) Young Stoneburner and the late David Young. Molly was a 1983 graduate of Amanda-Clearcreek High School and furthered her education at The Ohio State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Education, and later obtained a Master’s from Ashland University.

Among the many joys in Molly’s life was the time she spent teaching in the classroom. Having taught for Dover City Schools for the past 35 years, Molly gave of herself in many ways to ensure her students were well prepared. Her fifth-grade science classes at Dover East and later Dover Avenue reflected her great love of teaching and the well-being of her students.

When not in the classroom, Molly found activities with her family to be adventures in life and love. Whether it was a shopping trip, antiquing outing, time at Destin Beach, Florida, attending the sporting activities of her three daughters, or cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Molly cherished each opportunity to be present in the lives of her family.

Her faith is what carried her these past eight years. She didn’t waver, didn’t complain, and stayed the course even on the hardest days. While she has maintained a membership at her home church in Lancaster, Trinity Lutheran, Molly has been an active parishioner of Grace Lutheran Church at Dover for many years.

In addition to her mother, Molly will be deeply missed by her high school sweetheart, and husband of 35 years, Erick L. Bauer; her beloved daughters, Olivia (Dustin) Norris, Madeline (Nicholas) Underwood, all of Columbus, and Claire (Nathan Bertuca) Bauer of Detroit; her sister, Wanda Stover; sisters-in-law, Amy (Mark) LaRue, and Meg Bauer; nephews and niece, and extended family members.

Molly was preceded in death by her father, David Young, her step-father, Kenneth Stoneburner; her in-laws, Frederick and Sue Bauer; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Stover.

The family will celebrate Molly’s life with family and friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Private burial will take place at a later date.

In gratitude for their excellent care and attention, Molly’s family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia.
