Miriam F. Pollock, age 93, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 9, 2025, while in the care of Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia.
She was born on May 29, 1932, at Stone Creek, a daughter of the late Dennis and Edna Walters Beaber. Following her graduation from the former Stone Creek High School, Miriam obtained a Bachelor of Home Economics from Muskingum College. For a number of years following her graduation from college Miriam taught Home Economics at Stone Creek and New Philadelphia. She later worked as a substitute teacher in many of the county schools for a decade.
On October 31, 1954, Miriam married David M. Pollock. Together the couple raised four children and shared in 60 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 10, 2015.
In 1966, the couple purchased their family farm, Tusco Farm, where Miriam was involved in all aspects of the farm’s operations including the Holstein cows and field crops. She was also active in many farm organizations.
With a constant passion for education, Miriam was instrumental in the development of the kindergarten program at York School, a founder of the Carousel Kids Pre-School at First Christian Church of New Philadelphia and a board member of the Buckeye Career Center Scholarship Foundation. She also served as a 4-H club advisor for many years and was a driving force in the development of the annual dairy sale at the Tuscarawas County Fair.
Her faith throughout her lifetime has been nurtured at Jerusalem Church, Otterbein United Methodist Church and First Christian Church.
She was deeply proud of her family who will miss her dearly, her sons, Douglas (Martha) Pollock of Oregonia, Ohio, Brian (Brandie) Pollock of Sunbury, Ohio and Melvin (Becky) Pollock of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Zachary (Nikki), Madison, Ryan, Mackenzie and Chase; a great-grandson, Henry, and two brothers, Wayne (Diana) Beaber of Sugarcreek and Paul (Roberta) Beaber of Idaho as well as her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Miriam was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Pollock; an infant son, Clark Pollock; and a sister, Wilma Beaber.
The family will greet guests on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 11 – 1 PM in the Jerusalem Church at New Philadelphia where a service celebrating Miriam’s life will begin at 1 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Park Village Southside for their wonderful and attentive care to Miriam while she was a resident.
