Michael G. Becker, 82, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Born in Dover on May 14, 1943, Mike was the son of the late Don and Florence (Minnis) Becker. He was a proud Dover Tornado and a 1961 graduate of Dover High School. Mike went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Guam.
After his military service, Mike dedicated over 30 years to the former Empire Detroit Steel before retiring. Even in retirement, he remained active — notably hauling specialty cars for Auto Works to be featured in car shows across the United States. He took great pride in transporting these high-end vehicles with care and professionalism.
Mike was a man of deep passions and wide-ranging interests. He was a skilled mechanic and lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, owning and operating Bucky’s Cycle Shop in Dover. He raced Maico motorcycles in his younger years and was a proud member of the Singing Wheels Motorcycle Club.
His love for motorsports extended to the racetrack, where he worked as a driving school instructor at the Mid-Ohio Raceway, teaching high-performance driving skills. He also served as president of a local BMW Car Chapter, where he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with fellow riders.
He was an active member of Whitetails Unlimited and the Tusco Gun Club, enjoying both the sport and the fellowship they provided. He also enjoyed many fishing trips on Lake Erie with his sons.
A loyal Ohio State Buckeyes and Dover Tornado fan, Mike never missed a game if he could help it and always rooted for his teams with pride.
On February 28, 1973, Mike married the former Nancy L. Pigman. Together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, adventure and partnership.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Dover; his sons, Keith (Christy) Fabiano of Powell, Ohio, Sean Fabiano of New Philadelphia, Jeff and Scott Becker, both of New Philadelphia; his brother, Dan Becker of Dover; grandchildren Brooke Fabiano, Quenten Fabiano, Bo, Tess and Elli Becker, Gage, Blake and Cole Becker; his nephew, Bob Becker; and his niece, Sue Solvey.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Don Becker; sister-in-law, Marianne Becker; parents-in-law, Millie and Glen Aronholt; and son, Frankie Lee Fabiano.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, September 6, 2025 in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N Wooster Ave, Dover from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Jason Rissler will lead a service beginning at 11 am in the funeral home with burial immediately following at Dover Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 will render military honors.
