Mary I. “Marybelle” Wisintainer

November 27, 1925 — June 29, 2021

Mary I. “Marybelle” Wisintainer, 95, of New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Evan W. and Geraldine C. (Lab) Thomas, Marybelle was born November 27, 1925 at Dover, Ohio.

Marybelle graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1943. Then on September 17, 1949, she married E. Reynold Wisintainer. The couple shared 25 years of marriage prior to Reynold’s passing on October 28, 1974.

During her younger years, Marybelle worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses which include Packer’s Tin Shop, Wendling Distributing Company, Ringheimer’s Garage and Richard Rea’s. In March of 1959 she joined her husband in the family plumbing and water pump business until his death. Following his passing, she continued to operate the business for two more years along with her son.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. Marybelle was also a member of the former St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Midvale. Over the years she was quite active with the Christian Women’s Club as well.

Marybelle was an accomplished duplicate bridge player who participated in numerous regional and national tournaments. She was a Silver Life Master and belonged to the Tuscarawas Valley Duplicate Bridge Club and the Wednesday Night Duplicate Bridge Club and held various positions of both clubs for many years.

In her younger years she enjoyed golfing with her husband and they were members of the Friday Night Couples League. Marybelle was also a member of the New Philadelphia Lady Elks Lodge #510.

She is survived by her children, Reynold (Deb) Wisintainer and Rene Wisintainer; her grandchildren, Lauren (Daniel) Wisintainer, Evan (Cheyenne) Wisintainer and E.J. Wisintainer; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Landon and Everleigh; a special nephew, Chess (Karen) Lamb and many other extended family members.

Marybelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Theodore; a sister, Jean Lamb; a brother, David Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Laurinda Sue Winters and several extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
