Mary Magdelene Krebs, age 90, of Dover, died peacefully, Monday, May 1, 2023, while in her residence following a period of declining health.
Born on December 30, 1932, in Akron, Ohio Mary was the daughter of the late Walter and Cecelia Dick Sears.
Following her graduation from Lady of the Elms Catholic School, Mary attended nursing school and worked for a period of time as a nurse’s aide. She then turned her attention to lovingly caring for her family of six children. Mary was a strong-willed, compassionate, and independent person who was known for her delicious meals of pot roast and spaghetti. She also enjoyed baking and sharing banana bread. In her free-time Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, walking, hiking, and reading, and was forever on the hunt for a great bargain on a new purse.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Bill) Knotts of Dover, Mark Krebs of California, Linda (Dave) Petell of New Hampshire, Deborah (Daniel) LeBlanc of Florida, Karen French of Dover, and Patricia Pray of West Virginia; 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Albert Arthur Krebs, Jr.; and a brother, Leo Sears.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Dan Legg will lead a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Inurnment with her husband will follow in the Dover Burial Park.
