Mary Jo Haney

Mary Jo Haney, age 78, of Waynesburg passed away April 24, 2026, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at Canton, after a period of declining health.

She was born on March 27, 1948, in Dover to the late Robert and Jean (Campbell) Bennett.

Mary Jo spent her life serving people. For many years she worked as a waitress and bartender, or in sales at Wal-Mart. For many years she worked several jobs to care for her family. In her later years, she enjoyed the simple things of reading a good book, watching the birds in her backyard or playing with her dogs.

Mary Jo is survived by her son, William (Carolyn) Bennett; step-children, Tara Haney Jones, Deanna Williams Neil, and Rhonda Williams; grandson, Trenton (Emily) Bennett; step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Lewis, Randy (Tiffany) Cox, and Jackie Kent; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Edith (Ron) Varnish; and nephew, Joseph Varnish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Haney I; husband, Ronald Williams; fiancé, Robert Gleason; and step-son, Gary Haney II.

In keeping with Mary Jo’s wishes there will be a private inurnment next to her husband Gary Haney. Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
