Mary Henry

Mary E. Henry, 78, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Born in Martins Ferry, Mary was one of fifteen children born to the late Lawrence and Syvilla (Rose) Habig and had worked as a Home Health Aide for a number of years. In addition, she was a former Driver’s Education teacher as well as a bus driver for HeadStart Preschool.

Mary attended the New Philadelphia Church of Christ and in her spare time loved to go boating on Tappan Lake or camping with her family.

On August 1, 1989, Mary married William J. “Bill” Henry and together they shared over 34 years of marriage until her passing. Also surviving are her children, Michele Jeffries of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Kelly) Jeffries of Duncan Falls, Paul (Erica) Jeffries of Martins Ferry, Joe Henry and his companion Crissi Henry of Bowerston and Jim (Shawn) Henry of Carrollton; 11 grandchildren, one Great Grandchild, four brothers and two sisters.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM in the New Philadelphia Church of Christ where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM with Paul Pryor officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Cadiz on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 1 PM.
