Marlene K. Meyer, age 85 of New Philadelphia died on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 30, 1940, in Somerdale, Ohio, Marlene was the daughter of the late Clem and Gertrude (Grund) Locker. She was a proud 1958 graduate of Dover High School and an enthusiastic supporter of the Friends of Tuscarawas County Library.
From an early age, Marlene demonstrated a remarkable work ethic. At just 16 years old, she began working at the Atwood Concession Stand and went on to spend 2 years at Steinicks Bakery, and 17 years at Alsco Aluminum. Her career continued for over 30 years with Shoups Cleaning Company.
Marlene is survived by her children, Julie (Gary Spahr) Meyer of Dover, Marsha (Todd) Tacy of Mineral City, and Bobby (Mary) Meyer of Somerdale; four grandchildren, Tim (Debra Derheimer) Isaacs, Tyler Isaacs, Toria (Leland) Kendrick, and Todd Tacy; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Eddie, Eric and Adleigh; sister, Faye (Bill) Lawver; good friend and caregiver, Janet Swisshelm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and friend Robert Meyer, nine brothers and seven sisters
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. Pastor Shelly Nordine will lead a funeral service on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
