Marguerite Hooper

Marguerite E. Hooper, age 88, of East Sparta, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health.

She was born in Harrison County, Ohio on February 25, 1937, to the late Oliver and Lelia (Schaeffer) Rupert.

Marguerite worked for many years as a Bartender. She retired from Friendly Corner in Canton. In her free-time she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Ladies for many years.

On June 6, 1981, she married John Hooper and together they enjoyed 25 years of marriage before his passing in December of 2006.

She is survived by her children, Donna Coen of Mineral City, Mike Weaver of Mineral City, Donald Weaver of East Sparta, and Cliff Smitley of Stone Creek; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three grandchildren; and four siblings.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
