Margaret Ellen Heslop

Margaret Ellen Heslop, age 92, of Dover, and formerly of Canton died peacefully, in New Dawn Rehab and Nursing Center at Dover, early Friday, September 18, 2026, under the care of Ohio’s Hospice.

Born on April 3, 1934, in Williamstown, West Virginia, Margaret was the daughter of the late Carl A. and Mertis E. Hughes Davis.

After graduating from Marietta High School, Margaret attended the Marietta Business College and spent many years as a legal secretary for Briner & Associates.

On April 3, 1955, in Marietta, Ohio Margaret married Gale Heslop. Together the couple raised three children and have shared 71 years of marriage. Together the couple were longtime members of the Dueber United Methodist Church at Canton where they shared many adventures with other church members. As couples, the group of friends enjoyed camping, dining, traveling, wintering in Lakeland, Florida, and making new friends along the way.

Margaret was a talented seamstress who took pride in her work and enjoyed creating beautiful things for herself and others. She had a love for shopping and was known for her delicious cakes, which she enjoyed baking for family and friends. She especially enjoyed cruises shared with many lifelong friends.

In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her children, Pamela (Lee) Kramer of Canton, Sandra (Frank) Katich of Strasburg, and Brian (Sherilyn) Heslop of Stone Creek; grandchildren, Michele (Dave) Herron, Jill (George) Reul, David (Shelby) Katich, Andrew (Rachel) Katich, Joshua (Ashley) Heslop, Jacob Heslop and Isaac (Jacey) Heslop; three great-grandchildren, a sister, Carol Cisler, and a brother-in-law, Dale Ferrell both of Marietta, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Kay Ferrell and Roberta Baker.

In honoring Margaret’s wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation care has been handled through the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with private burial to take place in the Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.
