Obituary

Marcia Rae “Marcy” Martin, age 57, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, died early Saturday, July 25, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on July 23, 1969, Marcy is a daughter of Carol Alwine Martin of New Philadelphia and Duane (Sharon) Martin of Lawton, Michigan.

Marcy was a 1988 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and worked for United Way, Trumpet in the Land, and Cat-N-Us, retiring at an early age due to her health.

Marcy enjoyed activities with her parents that included daily chats with her mom and attending auto races with her dad. She was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes. As her health failed, Marcy loved keeping in touch with her friends and family via social media, specifically Facebook. She had a deep faith in the Lord and enjoyed attending the Good Shepherd Sunday School class at New Philadelphia’s First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed traveling and was an avid animal lover, especially her cat, Lucy.

In addition to her parents, Marcy is survived by her brother, Ryan Martin; her half-brother, Brandon Martin, and half-sister, Brittney Martin; her aunts, Cheryl (Jim) Knisley and Phyllis Millbaugh; and uncle, Randy (Cheryl) Martin; Robert Gribble, a close family friend, whom she considered a brother, as well as numerous cousins and countless friends.

Marcy was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her companion Walter Eberly, and an aunt and uncle, Carole and Andy Ronald.

A graveside service will be led by Mr. Dale Fincher and Rev. Dr. Tom Hendershot at 10 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marcy’s name may be directed to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or to Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, 10810 E. 45th Street, Suite 300, Tulsa, OK 74146.
