Lloyd Allen Carr, age 69, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Friday, October 2, 2026, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.
Born in Twin City Hospital at Dennison on April 19, 1957, Lloyd was a son of the late Herman and Mary Porcher Carr.
He was a 1975 graduate of the former Indian Valley North High School where he met the love of his life, the former Jody McKean. The couple wed a year later on June 5, 1976, and raised three children. Throughout their 39-year marriage, Lloyd and Jody enjoyed taking long trips on their Harley Davidson Motorcycles, taking fishing trips, traveling to casinos, and finding primitive and antique collectibles. Jody preceded Lloyd in death following a courageous cancer battle, on November 28, 2015.
Professionally, Lloyd began his career with Joy Manufacturing / Howden Buffalo in New Philadelphia. He went on to serve two terms as president of United Steelworkers of America Local 2737 before retiring.
Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed sport clay shooting, waterfowl hunting, and bow hunting. He also enjoyed training hunting dogs When he wasn’t spending time outdoors, Lloyd could usually be found enjoying time with his family.
Surviving are his children: Brenton (Jen) Carr of Stone Creek, Darcie (Jason) Warren of Coshocton, and Sean (Christine Mutti) of New Philadelphia; a grandson, Lucas (Kaylee Rubright) Schrump; a step-granddaughter, Kylee Ervin; his fiancé Tracey Colvin of Uhrichsville as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 5 – 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Cremation care will follow through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
