Linda Sue Evans, age 74, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Beach City, was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, while in the brief care of Ohio’s Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born at Union Hospital in Dover on October 16, 1950, Linda was the eldest daughter of the late Elmer E. and Eleanor J. (Mann) Steinke.
Linda was a 1968 graduate of Fairless High School. She married the love of her life, Thomas Ray Evans, on December 22, 1973. Together, the couple lovingly raised three children and shared in 38 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 4, 2012.
For several years Linda worked as a transportation driver for Fairless Local Schools before joining the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway at Brewster where she has been a valued colleague and friend to many for more than 30 years.
Linda’s life revolved around her family. She was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events, always their biggest supporter. Other activities that she enjoyed with those she loved included camping at Tappan Lake, gardening, crafting, playing cards, traveling and relaxing at the beach. Her faith was rooted in the Salvation Army.
Linda will be remembered for her warmth, devotion, and unwavering love for her family which includes her son, Pete (Teressa) Sampsel of Brewster, and daughter Nichole Marie (Dale, Jr.) Keffer of Strasburg; her beloved grandchildren, Xavier, whom she raised, LaTasha, Thomas, Jesse, Josh, Shawnee, Hayden, Remi, Tiki, Avery, Austin, Rylie, and Kylee; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bill (Barb) Steinke, Sharon (Mike) Tompkins all of Beach City, and Juanita (Jim) Parker of Dennison, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Linda had many friends she considered family and with whom she shared countless stories and adventures.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Linda was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Todd Evans, in March of 2024.
A public graveside service for Linda will be led by Captain Hinzman at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the East Union Lawn Cemetery at Navarre. All are invited to share in a celebration of life gathering on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM In the Massillon Salvation Army, 315 Sixth Street NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling arrangements.
