Larry Edward Allen

Larry Edward Allen, 84, of Newcomerstown, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover.

Born on May 6, 1941, in Morgan County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clayton and Helen (Musgrove) Allen and a proud graduate of Fort Frye High School in Beverly, Ohio,

Larry worked as a Welder and Mechanic for Superior Tank at Beach City, from where he eventually retired. His work ethic and craftsmanship were evident throughout his career and his home life.

Larry was a man of many talents and interests. He possessed a great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was known for his creativity and resourcefulness, often transforming everyday items into something useful and meaningful. His passion for woodworking and wood carving allowed him to create beautiful pieces that showcased his artistic talent.

Family was also central to Larry’s life. He loved being involved in helping raise his grandchildren, sharing his time and expertise generously with them.

He is survived by his wife, Reba J. (Alexander) Allen of the residence; his children, Michael Allen, Donna (Joe) Polen, Timmy (Joann) Allen, Rhonda (Mike) Russell and Paul Chapman Jr.; his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren of which he would say “ I have so many, that if they were vegetables, I’d have enough for a pot pie!” and his brother, Myron (Brenda) Allen also survives.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Marilyn Allen, his brother, Terry Allen and his step-daughter, Jodie Rutter.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and public services are not to be scheduled.
