Kim R. Sulzener, age 72, of New Philadelphia, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, following a five-year battle with dementia.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover, Kim was born on February 26, 1954, a son of the late Jack and Joan Murphy Sulzener.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1972, Kim took up the masonry trade and soon joined his father and brothers in the operation of Sulzener Truss and Construction. Venturing out on his own, Kim owned and operated KRS Sulzener Construction for more than three decades.

On November 16, 1974, Kim married the former Jill Warren. Over the years, they built a beautiful family together. A family in which Kim took great pride in being both a father and grandfather. Although Kim worked hard to provide for his family, he also placed a strong emphasis on making time to gather and make memories with his family. Some of the family’s most cherished memories were made at the lake property, where Kim poured countless hours of hard work and love into creating a special place for everyone to enjoy. What became known as “Papi’s Ranch” will forever hold the memories of many family gatherings, laughter, and time spent together--memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

When he was not working or spending time with his family, Kim found great joy in helping others in any way he could. He was known for his generous and giving heart, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, but above all, Kim treasured the time he spent with the people he loved.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Jill; their children, Sabrina (Chris) Crowell, Seth (Alyssa) Sulzener, Summer (Michael) Doss, all of New Philadelphia; and Samson (Heather) Sulzener of Dennison; and his beloved nine grandchildren, Brooklyn, Boston, Jace, Mersaddies, Javen, Brodee, Colton, Tytan, and Harper.

Completing the family are his siblings Brett (Jane) Sulzener of New Philadelphia, Cindy (Larry) Paynter of West Virginia, Sam (Laurie) Sulzener of Georgia, and Shawn (Melissa) Sulzener of Florida; a sister-in-law, Chris Sulzener of New Philadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kim was preceded in death by a brother, Terry “Jake” Sulzener.

A private celebration honoring Kim’s life will be held at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.

Those who knew Kim were well aware of his love for the song “Amazing Grace.” It became his life song, with its beautiful words providing him comfort and strength through the difficult times of life. Its message of faith and perseverance reflected the way Kim lived his life. As his family and friends remember him, they will carry with them the memories of a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
