Kent F. Sherrets, 40, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, February 11, 2023 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover.

Born October 28, 1982 in the base hospital at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, he was the son of Kenneth E. Sherrets and Kathleen S. Newsome. Kent was a 2001 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was employed as a Chef at Uncle Primo’s at New Philadelphia.

 

Kent loved music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed going to concerts with the bands, Tool and Small-Town Titans being among his favorites. He was a lover of sports and played both baseball and basketball while in school. Kent was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indianapolis Colts. Some of most favorite memories included attending Colts games in Lucas Oil Stadium at Indianapolis with his father and vacationing with his mother at Oceanside, California.

 

Kent is survived by his mother, Kathy Newsome of New Philadelphia and his father and step-mother, Kenneth, and Carla Sherrets of Uhrichsville. Also surviving are his two step-brothers, Cruz Fondriest of Avon Lake and Nash Fondriest of Barnhill; his companion, Jess Weaver of New Philadelphia; his paternal grandmother, Betty Sharady of New Philadelphia; his maternal grandparents, Maxine and Randell Newsome of Somerdale; five aunts and uncles, Steve and Cheryl Hupp of West Lafayette, Tim and Debbie Freeman of New Philadelphia, Mark and Rhonda Keffer of Dover, Judd and Shonette Bone of West Lafayette and Carl and Vonda Sherrets of Dayton. He will also be greatly missed by numerous cousins, a niece, a nephew and his cat, Scooter.

 

Kent is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl F. Sherrets; his grandfather, Mickey Sharady and a cousin, SuAnn Freeman.

 

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation care for Kent will be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a celebration of Kent’s life will be held at a later date.
