Kenneth Noel Haney, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, in his residence, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Born in Dover, Ohio on December 3, 1941, Ken was a son of the late Julius F. “Dude” and Mabel Walbridge Haney.
He was a 1959 graduate of Midvale High School and entered into the United States Air Force as an Airman. His career as a Material Handler with the former Ohio Power Company spanned nearly three decades prior to his retirement in 2002.
Kenny was a longtime member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #510 having joined in 1975 and a member of the Carl C. Stoller VFW Post 1445 of New Philadelphia. On August 2, 2002, at the age of 60, he married Jeannie Pompey Breehl and together the couple enjoyed countless golfing excursions and many bus trips with family. For many years, Ken was a familiar face at not only the former Green Valley golf course but also played on five different golf leagues throughout the area and obtained six holes in one throughout his lifetime.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 23 years, Jeannie; his step-sons, John L. Breehl of New Philadelphia and Steve (Liz) Breehl of Sherrodsville; a daughter-in-law, Shelly Breehl of Gahanna; his step-grandchildren, Taylor (Ethan) Yugovich, Blake Breehl, Brody Breehl, Brock Breehl, Katelyn Breehl and William Breehl; his sisters, Nancy Scaffidi and Carol Hanks both of Dover, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Lou Haney; two brothers, Gary Haney and Richard “Dick” Haney; a sister, Shirley Sayre; a step-son, William “Bill” Breehl; and a step-granddaughter, Addison Jean Breehl.
The family will greet guests on Monday, September 29, 2025 from 10 – 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Father Jeff Coning will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel at 11 AM. Members of the New Philadelphia VFW will render honors at the conclusion of the service. All are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the Sacred Heart Parish Center following services.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Thea Belknap, Stephanie Swarney and to the staffs of Park Village Dover and New Philadelphia for their care and compassion to Kenny and his family during his illness.
