Kenneth H. Rieger

Kenneth H. “Boots” Rieger, of Dover, passed away Thursday evening, April 8, 2004 surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was 70.Ken was born in the family home on Johnson Avenue in Dover on February 6, 1934 to the late Herman A. and Helen M. Heid Rieger. Ken graduated from Dover High School in 1952 and shortly thereafter he went to work at The Timken Company, roller bearing division, in Canton as a tool grinder. He joined the U. S. Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957 and went back to Timken’s. He retired after more than forty years of service. Ken will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, sensitive and giving, looking after the needs of others before his own.When not working, Ken enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with his kids to Tappan and Atwood lakes. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover Loyal Order of Moose and the Dover Eagles.He is survived by his brother, Don Rieger of Sugarcreek; his former wife, Audrey and their children: son, Jerry & Pamela Rieger of Augusta, GA; daughter, Linda & Tony Callahan of Frederick, MD; son Dale Rieger of North Canton; daughter, Debbie & Larry Troyer of Dover; and son, Dennis Rieger of Dover; grandchildren, Tanya, Kristin, Jeremy and Autumn Rieger, Courtney Callahan, Sarah Rieger, Amanda and Brandon Troyer; one great-grandchild, Julia; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer and Richard Lutz; and his dog, “Mickey”.Calling hours will be Monday, April 12, 2004 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with the Christian Wake service at 8:45 PM. The funeral mass will be Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 1:30 PM in St. Joseph Church in Dover with Rev. Fr. William L. Arnold as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military burial rites presented by Dover VFW Post No. 3463.Contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
