Julie A. Erwin-Prettyman, 53, of Dover, Ohio, a self-proclaimed “man, woman, and beast” passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born to the late Russ Erwin and Wavel Eagleson on May 9, 1971 in Union Hospital at Dover. She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School class of 1990.
In her spare time, she enjoyed a cold Bud Light and a Saturday night listening to Classic Country with Rowdy Yates. You could find her spending her Sundays rooting for the Steelers. Julie loved crafts and sewing. She loved to make soap bags for the homeless and blankets and hats for babies in the hospital. She was so generous, always trying to lend a helping hand. She loved to help others. Jule loved spending time with her yorkie, "Peanut.” She loved her children and spending time with them. Julie had many friends she absolutely adored. Julie’s first love was Wade Prettyman, together they had four children and later divorced but remained lifelong friends. A known inside joke between the pair is when Julie would reference to Wade the Conway Twitty song: “You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly”; but followed that statement with: “That’s my best friend.” Wade will miss her dearly.
Julie will be greatly missed by her kids, Raquel Prettyman, Cheyenne (Zac) Davis, Jonathan Dale Prettyman, Hannah (Tiffany) Cope, and Meah (Jordan) Beans; four grandchildren; her companion, Dean Haney of Dover; sister, Vanessa Meuhlen of New Philadelphia; and brother, Russ Erwin of Dover, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Meuhlen.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to everyone that was there for Julie. To everyone who donated money, made her food, helped her to doctors’ appointments or the store. Ya’ll are so appreciated. All the little acts of kindness meant the world to Julie.
There will be a memorial on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM to celebrate Julie’s life. The memorial will be held at T&K Tavern, 417 Broad St., Dover, Ohio. So please stop by for fellowship and celebrate Julie’s life the way she would want you to.
