Joyce Maxwell

Joyce E. Maxwell, age 95, formerly of Magnolia passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Country Club Retirement Home of Dover, after a period of declining health.

She was born on November 17, 1927, in Kansas, Ohio to the late Walter and Paulene (Steinhurst) Lanning. 

Joyce worked in many restaurants through the years.  In her younger years she was also the manager of the Tuscarawas County Children’s Home.  She was also a busy mom raising 5 children.  On June 14, 1976, she married William Maxwell and together they spent 38 years of marriage before his passing.

She is survived by her sons, John (Diane) Stair of Groveport, Ohio, Lester (Carin) of Tucson, Arizona, and Jack (Jeri) Stair of Dayton, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren, great -grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Walter Scott Stair; and daughter, Jill Stair Rupp.

In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia.
