Joyce Mahaffey

Joyce E. Mahaffey, 76, of New Philadelphia passed away October 24, 2025 in Aultman Hospital after years of declining health.

Born November 23, 1948, she was the daughter of Martha (Hershberger) Schrock and the late Moses Dale Schrock.

After completing high school, Joyce continued her education as an adult at the University of Akron where she completed her Bachelor of Accounting. She used that knowledge to serve as the owner and accountant of Schrock Accounting in Mt. Eaton.

Joyce enjoyed time spent at the beach and involvement at First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia as her health allowed.

Joyce’s family includes her mother; daughter, Claudia (Bruce) Smythe; grandchildren, Jordan (Michael) McGinnis, Jessica Pehowic, and Tiffany (Scott) George; her brothers, James (Linda) Schrock and Dwaine Schrock; and sister-in-law, Karen Schrock.

In addition to her father, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Michael Mahaffey; and brother, Dean Schrock.

A memorial gathering will be held in the First Baptist Church’s Red Barn on November 7, 2025 at 2 p.m.
