Joseph E. West

Joseph E. West, 43, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2023.

Born at Dover, he was the son of Richard D. and Diane R. (Smith) West of Strasburg and had attended both New Philadelphia High School and Buckeye Career Center at New Philadelphia.

Joey, as he was called by those who knew him, loved photography and going out and looking for antiques. He had a creative ability to turn unwanted collectibles into new treasures. Some of his fondest memories were spent going fishing with his family in Michigan and also in the many lakes around the area. 

In addition to his parents, Joe will be missed by his son, Gabriel “Gabe” West of Dover; a brother, Chad (Shannon) West of New Philadelphia; a sister, Katie (Kevin) Shoup of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; his companion, Jen Fishel of New Philadelphia; three nephews, Jackson, Evan, and Kaden West, and numerous Aunts and Uncles.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Rosemary Smith and Robert and Italia West.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Geib Funeral Center and Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 1:30 PM In the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.
