Joseph Lee Troyer, age 47, of Dover died Monday, July 13, 2026, in his residence following an unexpected health event.
Born in Sarasota, Florida on May 29, 1979, Joe is the son of Owen N. and Susie L. Weaver Troyer of Dover. He was a 1997 graduate of Hiland High School and for more than 20 years was employed by Watch Communications, a wireless broadband internet provider.
At the center of Joe’s life were his children. Being their dad was one of his greatest joys, and some of his favorite memories were made simply by spending time together. Whether it was taking them to Canton for a special meal, traveling to Florida to visit family, or making a trip to Toys R Us when they were younger, Joe had a way of turning everyday outings into adventures they would always remember.
Joe found peace and enjoyment outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time on the lake water skiing and tubing, and camping with family and friends. These weren't just hobbies—they were opportunities to make memories with the people he loved. In fact, he had just returned from a camping trip with friends this past weekend, doing something that had brought him happiness throughout his life.
Those who knew Joe will remember him as a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. He never hesitated to help someone in need and genuinely cared about the people around him. Whether through a simple act of kindness, a helping hand, or time spent together, Joe made others feel valued. His steady presence, caring heart, and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, Owen and Sue, his beloved children, Makayla and Keaton Troyer both of Dover; a sister, Sheila Troyer of Dover; a brother, Ray (Sandra) Troyer of Sarasota, Florida; the mother of his children, Tiffany Troyer of Dover; his nephews and niece, Corey Troyer, Seth Abel, Allison (Tyler) Danner, and Zacary (Erica) Troyer; his longtime companion, Molly Malone; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Joe was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jonathan Troyer; maternal grandparents, Levi and Mary Weaver, and paternal grandparents, Noah and Sarah Troyer.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 2 – 5 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Bruce Sexton will lead a service celebrating Joe’s life on Monday, July 20, 2026, beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park.
