Joseph A. Pusateri, age 81 of Dover, passed away early Sunday, August 23, 2026, while under the care of Sincere Hospice while in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover.
Born April 25, 1945 at Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Angelo Anthony and Emma Virginia Liotta Pusateri.
A graduate of North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. Later, earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976. He began his grocery career working for his father at Angelo’s Market in Pittsburgh Pa. In 1978 he joined the staff of Associated Grocers Inc. as a retail consultant where he worked until 1990. A grocer his entire life. Joe went to work for Riser Foods, now Giant Eagle, retiring in 2013 as a sales consultant.
Active in the community, Joe was a member of the Dover Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Senior Citizens, a Board Member for the Dover-New Philadelphia Food Pantry, a member of the St. Joseph Pastoral Council, and has been a longtime faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Pusateri, of Dover whom he wed September 5, 1999; his step-children Ralph Crivelli, Allen (Beth) Crivelli, Lisa (Bob) Simpson of Pittsburgh PA and Linda Caporali of VA.; as well as a sister, Mary (John) Long of South Carolina. Ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Crivelli) Pusateri, and a step-daughter-in-law, Karen Crivelli.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 4:00 – 7:00 PM where a Christian Wake Services will commence at 7PM. Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. A luncheon will follow in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Private burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
